Natural Play Ground at Camp Ken-Jockety

 We are in the process of installing a natural play ground at Camp Ken-Jockety.  The plan is to have it completed by the start of next summer.  PITs at Day Camp shared their ideas of what they would like to see in the space and this is the design that was the result.

Let’s Get Growing

There are a lot of really cool things happening at Camp Ken-Jockety. We just wrapped up a great day camp season. Things have quieted down a little – but not for long! We’re gearing up for a fall and winter filled with awesome program and volunteer opportunities. We also are planning to install a natural playground, create new gardens, and kick-start the use of our greenhouse at the Elam Environmental Center.

I’m Geeky and I Know It …

 Maybe you’ve seen this meme floating around the internet. There are many variations of the meme, but I can’t help but smile and chuckle to myself whenever I see it. Don’t get me wrong – I’m not laughing at this girl, I’m laughing because I WAS this girl. It isn’t me in the picture, but guessing by the hair, the clothing (especially the vest), and her excitement over Goosebumps books, I’m willing to bet she was a tween/teen in the nineties, just like me. Back then, I used to spend every dime of my allowance in our local bookstore. Goosebumps wasn’t my thing, though – instead, I was buying the latest copies of The Baby-Sitter’s Club by Ann M. Martin, the Sweet Valley Twins series by Francine Pascal, or the latest Christopher Pike book. Of course, most of the other girls I knew spent their money on nail polish, accessories, and clothes …
