In the midst of all the chilly temps and snow, I often look forward to warmer weather and sunny skies! Many Americans tend to plan their summer vacations during the winter months so that they have something to look forward to during the summer months! In my case, I have been working with a great group of girls in middle and high school that are planning activities for It’s a Girl Thing 2013. The girl planning committee decided they wanted the event to take place during the summer where there is warmer weather, a new location that will offer more fun activities/choices, and the event to be affordable to every girl. The committee recently took a tour in December to get an idea of all of the fun things that can be done on campus. They want you to know that you too can start planning your summer fun that can include: staying in a dorm room, meeting new girls from around the council, touring the campus, sharing your talent at the Girl Scout Got Talent Show, hanging out at the pool, enjoying the rec center, a dance party with DJ, karaoke, and Wii dance party games, and going to fun workshops that will include yoga, duct tape art, Zumba, hip hop dance, safe dating, and origami, just to name a few. This year, It’s a Girl Thing will take place June 21-22 on a college campus in Delaware. The committee will be sharing more information with you in next few months and more details about It’s a Girl Thing 2013 can be found in the winter 2013 edition of myGSOH.
